The demand for skilled professionals in the West African energy sector
is steadily increasing. To meet this challenge, WAPP created a network of
Regional Training Centres, supported by ProCEM, with the goal of training
competent and qualified specialists and managers.
The results are already tangible: in June 2025, over 1,500
employees from the Beninese utility company took part in training
programs on reducing technical electricity losses and customer
management, helping improve operational performance.
In April 2025, the African Development Bank (AfDB) commissioned
the network to train utility staff on integrating renewable energies into the
grid. Through interactive lectures and software-based simulations, participants
gained solid skills to contribute to scaling renewable energy systems.
These achievements show that the network is
becoming a strong regional platform for knowledge exchange and
cooperation.
